Auditing and Monitoring Health Care

We recently acquired some physician practices and have formed a Centralized Billing Office to handle the billing for all of the practices.  Are physician practices required to submit a quarterly credit balance report (CMS 838) just like hospitals?

Hi Theresa,

Several years ago I managed a credit balance team at a large hospital.  At that time physicians were not required to participate in the quarterly credit balance report.  I'm not aware that this has changed, but will be curious to see other responses from this group.
